An Evaluation of Encryption Schemes: RSA and ECDH
This academic research paper dives into the world of cryptography and its use in cloud-based security systems. It gives a simple, yet informative, overview of two encryption schemes, RSA (Rivest-Shamir-Addleman) and ECDH (Elliptical Curve Diffie-Hellman), with the goal of determining which one is better for cloud-based systems.
In order to determine the best fit for cloud security, a direct comparison between the two algorithms is made and a 5 point rubric is used to assess their advantages/disadvantages. These 5 points consist of the amount of memory allocation necessary, difficulty of implementation, key generation time, encryption time and decryption time. This paper references many other academic papers and uses many visuals and charts to reach a favorable conclusion.
Finally, it should be noted that this paper solely seeks to give a fundamental understanding and introduction to the world of cryptography and these two algorithms specifically. Therefore, citations are provided in order to explore several subtopics more in depth.
